About 9 people have lost their lives in a fatal auto
crash that occurred along the Abakaliki-Enugu
expressway on Tuesday, March 22.
The sad incident which left 3 others with injuries
happened when a trailer conveying chippings ran
into a coaster bus on its way to Ikom in Cross
River state from Lagos, Daily Post reports.
According to an eyewitness, the driver of the
trailer lost control when the front tire burst ran
into the coastal bus. The bus immediately went
up in flames burning 3 of the victims beyond
recognition.
James Owo, the director of Fire Services in
Ebonyi state, confirmed the incident, adding that
his men have evacuated victims from the
accident scene.
“We worked in conjunction with the Federal Road
Safety Commission (FRSC) to rescue the victims
and take them to hospital,” he added.
In another development, 6 people have been
confirmed dead after a cement truck belonging to
Dangote Company and a bus were involved in an
accident on the Lokoja-Abuja road. The accident
occurred in the early hours of Tuesday, March
22 at a bend at Ohono village located on the busy
road.
