Yenagoa—A Bayelsa State High Court, in Oporoma, has sentenced to death by hanging, one of the killers of the 11 policemen in Lobia II community of Southern Ijaw Local Government Area, Bayelsa State, on April 5, 2013. The accused, Jackson Feutubobai, was found guilty on all the 11-count charge of murder preferred against him. According to the charge, Jackson Feutubobai was accused of killing one Police Inspector, Joseph Ofozini. Police prosecutor told the court that the accused has over five cases in various courts bordering on alleged kidnapping, sea piracy and involvement in the killing of 11 Policemen in 2013.

Trial judge, Justice M. Ayemieye, after taking into account the nature of the offence and the passionate plea for mercy made by the defence counsel, said that the sentence for murder was death and it was mandatory. Justice Ayemieye accordingly sentenced the accused to death by hanging.

The state Prosecuting Counsel, Arthur Seweniowor, while speaking with newsmen, said that if the accused fails to appeal in three months, the governor would sign his death warrant and he will be hanged. Counsel to the accused, Efieseimokumo Bipeledei, had earlier pleaded with the court to temper justice with mercy, saying that the accused person was a family man, who has five children, who are all depending on him.

Although am not in any supporting d killing of d police but if na policeman mistakenly kill civilian he will be set free by claim it is accidental discharged/ stray bullet.......
