Governor Nyesom Wike of Rivers state on
Wednesday, March 23, paid a condolence visit
to the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC)
secretariat over the death of Samuel Dumebi
Okonta, who was killed during the rerun
election in the state.
Okonta Samuel Dumebi, a corps member, was
on election duties in Rivers state rerun
parliamentary elections on March 19, when he
was shot dead by hoodlums.
Dumebi, an orphan from Illah area of Delta
state, was serving as ad-hoc staff of the
Independent National Electoral Commission
(INEC) at Ahoada West local government area
when he and two of his colleagues were
attacked by hoodlums who were trying to
disturb the conduct of the free and fair
exercise.
The director general of the NYSC, Brig- Gen.
Johnson Olawumi, has vowed that the scheme
would not relent until those responsible for the
killing of Dumebi are brought to justice.
Solomon Dalung, the minister of youth and
sports, Solomon Dalung, said the federal
government would stop at nothing to find the
masterminds of the violence in the Rivers state
elections which claimed the life of the corps
memeber.

The death of this innocent guy dosent bring an end to the election,talkless of declearing a whole day to morn him..This shld be a lesson for people who risk their precious life all because of a polithiefians who alrdy hide their kids somewhere in abroad...
