A court in Egypt has sacked the country's Football Association over election rigging. This comes on the heels of the national team's inspiring 1-1 draw in Nigeria in a Group G AFCON 2016 qualifiers played last Friday in Kaduna as they seek to end a three consecutive absence from Africa's football fiesta. The intervention of a regular court in football affairs could force World football governing body FIFA to ban the country from all football related activities. Meanwhile, Sunday's withdrawal of Chad from the group due to financial constraint has added more drama to the race to Gabon 2017. All points, goals and matches have therefore being cancelled based on CAF rules. This effectively, leaves leaders Egypt with 4 points, Nigeria 2 points and Tanzania 1 point while only the group winner would qualify for the tournament. With an impending ban on Egypt, Nigeria could be left with Tanzania in the group to fight for the sole ticket.
