Benue State government has strongly kicked against the moves by the Federal Government to establish grazing land for Fulani herdsmen as a way of ending crises between the herdsmen and farmers in the country.

The state insisted that establishment of ranches remained a lasting solution to the crisis.

This was reaffirmed, Sunday, in a statement issued on behalf of the government by the Special Adviser to the Governor on Media and ICT, Mr. Tahav Agerzua.

According to him, “Governor Samuel Ortom has reiterated overtime that the establishment of ranches remains the best global practice in animal husbandry that explains why there are no clashes between farmers and herders in countries that have domesticated the practice.

“It has become the generally acceptable practice, which necessitated the position of the government on the matter.”
He wondered why Nigeria had not embraced the practice, maintaining that it would serve as the permanent solution to the unending clashes and effectively address the menace of herdsmen/farmers crisis.

He explained further that it could be very difficult and almost impossible to convince any community to donate parcels of land for the purpose of creating grazing land for cattle rearers.
He said in the interim, measures that would promote peaceful coexistence between farmers and herders must be promoted and infringement on the right of either party should be handled within the ambit of the law without resort to self help.

Truly nigeria is a zoo. Why cant they implement it into law? No more grazing lands in other communities.
The north have more lands. Train ur cows in ur north full stop.

Grazing area in the 21st century?! I perceive that the federal government is trying really hard to prepare communities for bloody conflicts. Those who cannot establish ranches should use their own compound to raise cattle. You should never use your business to destroy another's livelihood. Leading cattle through city streets and people's farmlands is moribund, dangerous to commuters and an embarrassment to city residents.

Savagery of this kind should not be promoted in the 21st century. Even animals have moved on to a higher life.

Why is it that these people claim larger land mass but will still want to carve out special land from the little in other regions foe them? Which kind nonsense be dis sef? Have they carved out special farmlands farmers or special structures for commercial purposes?

Why must these people be spoonfed at all times because they are bullies and want to claim monopoly of violence? Shebi they always say they provide Southerners with food from their arable land? They should allocate some of those lands for growing pasture and creating modern ranches please! Enough of d fulani eyesores with their deadly weapons with which they kill and destroy at will!

Same President that say Fulani would soon stop roaming, am I the only one that is sensing that he is confused?
It would be only be foolish of any state government to cede their lands to Fulani who may not use it for the purpose because their man is the President.
the solution would be as superficial as the amnesty programme and would never end the clash because Fulani men know no law and are willing to obey none because :

Their Oga that is always willing to cover them irrespective of what they do is on the throne. that is why he has said no word on the massacre in Agatu after commensurating with Belgium.
