I have the huawei E5172bs-925 (spectranet). I unlocked it recently but got no signal at all on the device. I also noticed there is no network management of sort on the dashboard e.g apn, network mode, and co.

The Spectranet branded Huawei E5172bs-925 router is designed for Spectranet solely which makes the firmware locked to there network only... so the workaround here is if you can successfully update your device to a universal firmware, then you can use any other network but updating it is where the issue is currently. I'm presently working on it, if I get a breakthrough, would let you know. Thanks

Yes n No....Yes in the sense that it only works with 3G networks after unlocking it...NO as in...you don't need to change the Firmware...it works naturally.
