It is no news that our market place is riddled with fake products. One that could be particularly dangerous is consumption of fake drinks. This has lead to food poisoning, accumulation of toxins and cancernogenic agents in the body or even immediate death as in the recent cases of deaths from consumption of fake gins in Ondo and Calaba.

Before you buy that soft drink or alcoholic drink, watch out for the following:

1. Where you buy from
As much as possible DON'T EVER buy drinks from hawkers. YES, if you value your health and life, please quite patronizing those boys and girls selling drinks in hold ups and on the highway.
Why?
They sell counterfeits because the profit is very high.
They don't give a damn about your well being all they want is money and they are even ready to cheat you at the slightest opportunity.
They use the hasty situation as a perfect cover to sell fake goods and they know they can easily run off in case anyone discovers the drink or product bought is fake.
Beware!

It is better you prepare before setting out on a journey. Buy your drinks from trusted supermarkets and retail shops.

Watch out for visible telltale signs
-faded labels. Look at the bottle cap are the writings on it faded? It could be fake. Probable the counterfeiter used already used bottles.
-Wrong spellings
-the design does not look original.
- colors on labels are not bright and high quality.

3. It tastes odd, throw it Away!
If the drink tastes different from what you are used to, please don't continue drinking it because you don't wanna waste your money. Drain the bottle and dispose immediately!.

4. Can is better than pet bottle oh yes! If you must buy drinks in traffic or from environments you don't really trust, go for the Can drinks and not Pet bottles (plastic bottles). Counterfeiters produced products that are easy and cheap to produce. It is expensive to make aluminium cans that are flawless and very hard to reuse the opened ones unlike the pet bottles. So just go for the canned drinks in such situations.

5. Report any case of fake drinks anywhere you find them. let's make the society a better place.
