In a leaked telephone brawl between PMB, Buhari and Amechi, Amechi was heard threatening to expose Buhari's dirty deals during the 2015 presidential election if he fails to influence the Rivers re-run election to his favours. Tinubu, who was part of the conference conversation asked the president to call Amechi's bluff and let him do his worst. Amechi gave a very loud hiss and cut the phone. Tinubu told PMB not to take Amechi serious that he could not even deliver SS to APC during the presidential election and Rivers re-run. Both of them later agreed to continue influencing Rivers election in favour of their party and Tinubu was of the opinion that Amechi should not be taken serious as he's always under the influence of narcotics. He also advised the president to get rid of Amechi as he was a bomb getting ready to explode and PMB assured him that he would soon reduce Amechi below a Councillor.
