Nuclear Security Summit; A Misplaced Priority by Nobody: 6:32pm On Apr 03, 2016 |
The President attitude of jumping at every chance to travel abraod is insensitive at this time when the country is experiencing economic quagmire. Fifty (50) countries participated in the just concluded Nuclear Security Summit in Washington DC however, it is pertinent to draw attention of Nigerians to the fact that seventeen (17) countries sent their Vice Presidents, Foreign Affairs Ministers or other Government Officials as their representatives in lieu of the leader of their respective countries. Nations with nuclear warhead (Nuclear weapon) such as Isreal and Pakistan who should be more concern about the summit only sent representatives (Yuval Steinitz from the Ministry of National Infrastructures, Energy and Water Resources, and Tariq Fatemi the Assistant to the Prime Minister of Pakistan). While the Prime Minister of Belgium whose nation is battling terrorism like Nigeria also sent a representative in order to tackle the problem at the home front but President Buhari in his infinite "wisdom" decided to leave the shores of Nigeria in order to attend a summit which will not improve the socio-economic situation of the country. For me President Buhari attendance at the summit is a misplace priority because no rational man will leave his burning house to attend to other matters. The list of the seventeen representatives and thier portfolio will come shortly |
