Buhari's govt has done secret recruitment of over 900 people into CBN, and more than 1000 people into immigration. Following media reports, underground recruitment is presently being done into civil defense. It appears that in the next 3 years, civil service jobs are not for the masses ie those who are not immediate family relations of politicians if things continue this way. Meanwhile, the government is willing to employ from the Nigerian masses into the army. The recruitment into police appears to be the first open and transparent move. what happens to those who are graduates, but are not related to the political class and are not interested in wasting their lives on police or army jobs? A good look at the policy direction of the Buhari-led federal government shows that it is overwhelmed by the high level of unemployment now standing at 42 million unemployed/ underemployed. The government has realized how futile its campaign promises were and how impossible it will be to create 2 million jobs per annum. Instead of creating civil service based job, the government has opted for self- empowerment schemes. Presently, there are three of such schemes, it is important we know them so that we can key in. 1) CBN sponsored entrepreneurship program that gives loan of N3 million to N5 million to Corpers and ex-corpers who completed the scheme just less than 5 years back. 2) Bank of Industry sponsored single digit interest loan of not more than 3million given to unemployed graduates. 3) Federal Ministry of agriculture grant of $25,000 to $300,000 in partnership with IITA. This loan is only to be invested in agriculture However sweet these programs are, two out of these three may not cater for the truly unemployed who have no physical movable asset to be used as collateral aside their NYSC certificate too which must be surrendered until loan is fully repaid
