This thread: https://www.nairaland.com/3031165/list-nigeria-states-own-flyover Putting such a thread on the front page without proper background check and verification is embarrassing and makes mockery of your credibility, integrity and editorial standards. How did the author of the thread come about his so-called list? How many states in Nigeria has he visited and how many cities has he been to in them? He listed Anambra as having flyovers under construction, while the flyover at a popular section in Onitsha is one of the oldest in Nigeria. Furthermore, another flyover was constructed in by Peter Obi before he left office. Also, he didn't make mention of Enugu which, at the last count, has about 8 flyovers, with 6 in the city of Enugu alone. Please take down that thread. It's a mere ill-informed opinion piece masquerading as fact. Cc: lalasticlala, seun 1 Like |

The author is simply myopic or trying to be mischievous. This is another flyover in Enugu. From the look of the flyover you can see that it's very old and not under construction.

Flyovers are necessary when urban planning fails in small city settings as we have in most Nigerian largely rural states. They are not necessarily a thing of joy. It is a shame that relatively new and small state capitals like Ado Ekiti and Awka needs them. 5 Likes |

lala and the mods are full of sentiment, putting thread of their friends and cronies since 1991 on front page, even if its trash, false and misleading. |

Actually. Except the first one, the rest no resemble wetin person go call 'fly overs'... Apparently, those were built by the feds in the 60s and not the half-daunting ones now. The ones u posted there best called 'bridges' so as not to confuse with the latest and more dynamic designs, and so as not to anger their sister bridges called pedestrians bridges, which might feel lonely. We dey talk fly over now... This na glorifies pedestrian bridges. 1 Like |

jerseyboy:hahaha. So having a fly over bridge is a thing of shame. FYI, the major advantage of fly over and similar infrastructures like paedestrian bridge and traffic light is traffic decongestion and easier movement of vehicles and human traffic . No city has a perfect plan. Even city planners do include them sometimes. We shouldnt celebrate them actually but shouldnt downplay its importance. Underdevelopment and primitive mindset shouldnt drive us into critisizing good things. Ado ekiti? It doesnt have one. Any though about that is just a misplaced priority by the gov.Its still a village lacking traffic to warrant such. Awka? It is a fast expanding city whose traffic is bigger than osogbo, akure and ado ekiti put together and deserves even two additional flyovers to solve traffic gridlock. |
