JUST SOMEWHERE THERE

Just somewhere there
A place never dreamt of
Far in the south of the south
In a place enveloped with mountains
There located my habitation

As if once upon a time
The reality of told tales
Moon light helps tell who’s there
Tap water sounds rubbish
All know one another even at night

God’s calendar exists for all
A year of living as thousands
As if service will never end
Selfless and endless sacrifice here
Come to stay as companion

Evil is here with us everyday
Youths dying at prime
Wick one dining uninvited
50 years old man at a spot
Yes, all we see in this place

Church exist as if they are not
Pastors could have concubines
Twelve could pregnant here
Fatherless are countless here
Poverty embraced everyone in this place

Cheating is the way of life
Adultery and fornication norms
From church to beer joint
From rags to rags, but doesn’t matter
Once we could get ‘hot’ drink

Yes, where poor and the rich are alike
Where the poor chose to remain poor
The hopeless never make efforts
Young girls struggle for sex
And the men never satisfied

Yes, we leave in shop-home
Go miles in bush to release
Bath in a thatched palm bathroom
Where comfort doesn’t matter
Here, selfless service is obvious

We place our live on line
Exposed to malaria and typhoid
Eat carbon-hydrate unmixed
Pile smiled and fever touched
No hospital, poor clinic

But yet joy fills our heart
That we serve our fatherland
We put service before self
We speak, preach and evangelize
We save souls, educate and counsel

As if all to no avail
But the impact was felt
Yes, long later, gradual change
Hope is brought, they can make it
Things has fallen in lines

The courageous, home we go
Done the little we could
Our service to humanity and unto God
Peace of God we leave for them
Not as the world gives as said

Yes we shall see again
Students, corps, meet again
Where I don’t know, someday
As we meet to part,
Yet we part to meet again.
