I say this because the standard test students in private universities go through to graduate conforms with NUC standards and is imposed by the so called public graduates of yesteryears.
In the public unis, the norm is to deny most students who come close making a first class the first class and make the others sort their way through 60% of the courses. In private school there is transparency and student aren't easily denied the first class. It is not the fault of the private unis that public unis decide to simulate failure in order to give the impression of higher standards.
I can confidently say in private unis some course that are weighted at 2 units go for 3 units in public unis, in fact Industrial Training is weighted at 6 units for a most private school students and goes for 15 units for public school students.
Add the fact that a lot of public school people do sort for as low as N200 for their supervisor to grade them well to this already skewed grading system and the difference becomes even clearer. By the time one factors in the power supply and favourable learning environment factors, it leaves no doubt about the fairness of high first class rate in private schools.

How easy it is to defend a course you were force to sort. Common be serious for once and admit the truth.
