This year’s edition tagged the Torchbearers saw awards being given to 12 Nigerians who have proven to be leaders through their inspiring works on Friday, April 9, at the Eko Hotel in Victoria Island.
Those who were honoured at the event include Governors Ibikunle Amosun of Ogun, Ibrahim Dankwanbo of Gombe, Adams Oshiomhole of Edo and Kashim Shettima of Borno who shared the Vanguard governor of the year award. Others are Otunba Olasubomi Balogun , Sen David Dafinone, Mrs Onikepo Akande, Alex Ekeueme who were given the lifetime award of the year. Jim Ovia was honoured as the business man of year, while Asiwaju Bola Tinubu bagged the hero of the year award. The flagship; for the Vanguard personality of the year 2015 went to President Buhari for his persistence to actualize his dream for a greater Nigeria and former president, Good luck Jonathan, for his concession to maintain peace and unity in Nigeria. The former vice president was greeted by laud cheers from guests and an enthusiastic Igbo entourage who added grace to his award session.
