THE BENUE STATE UNIVERSITY MAKURDI I wish to conveniently inform the general public concerning recent developments with particular reference to the increments of certain amounts..... First of all, its important for us to know that the growing economic challenge is indeed as real as a brick wall, it is obvious that there is a troubling Ecomic crunch as is evident globally, nationally and also at the state & local levels, we cannot deny this fact. In every sector, at every level, costs and prices have skyrocketed more than ever before...these 'shoot ups' cannot necessarily be blamed on the federal government or the state governments of the present administration alone as these are collective challenges and should be viewed and tackled as such. When you proceed down to the University levels, we cannot simply blame the tertiary institutions for certain increments after we have already known that these increments are simply as a result of the growing economic challenges. Before now, the Benue State University has remained the most affordable institution if not in the entire North Central, but in fact the whole country, this as a result of the growing need to help our teeming youths who may find it difficult making payments & also to help get young ones off the streets into school. But a time comes when things must change a bit, if the economy has all of a sudden turned crunchy, it is only natural that certain changes as a matter of necessity have to change. It is as a result of the these reasons and many other factors that have necessitated the recent review in charges in the University. THE REVIEW OF CONDITIONAL CHARGES IN THE UNIVERSITY The management has therefore proposed a review of conditional charges in the University. The need for the review has become necessary in order to shore up the internally generated revenue(IGR) so as to meet up with the ever increasing cost of running the university on daily basis. In coming up with the proposed review, Management contacted more than Five(5) other state universities who charge same rates. THE PROPOSED RATES ARE AS FOLLOWS: Post-UTME: initially #2500 now #3000 Acceptance Fee: initially #5000 now #25,000 for undergraduates, while #30,000 for post graduates Development Levy: initially #10,000, now #25000 for other courses, while #50,000 for College of Health Sciences,Law,& Management Sciences Accreditation: not existing before, but the cost is # 15,000 for other courses, but #30,000 for College of Health Sci, Law & Management Sciences Utility Services: not existing before, but the cost is # 10,000 Laboratory/practical/Sanitary/consumables: not in existence before, but costs #20,000 Please Note that the above costs are referred to as 'CONDITIONAL' Charges, payable only ONCE! Applicable to only New intakes, Not applicable to returning students. OTHERS INCLUDE: Certificates: initially #4000 for Sub-degree & degree, now #10,000......while for postgraduates # 15,000 Transcripts: Local - initially #2000, now #10,000. International - initially #2000, now #20,000 Inter faculty transfer: initially #2000, now #5000 Inter university transfer: initially #5000, now # 50,000 Result verification: initially #2000, now #5000 I wish to also let the public know that the amounts stated in the first half of this write up are all PAYABLE ONLY ONCE! which means only the fresh intakes are affected, as such it is to be seen as such... If there are any questions, please feel free to ask instead of going around listening to rumours and generating them to add to already heated economies. Thank you for your continuous support, patience and understanding. Yours Truly iamboycute...
