The Occupy Nigeria group said it had begun mobilising Nigerians for protest in Port Harcourt, Rivers State, on Thursday, April 14, 2016 over the failure of the Federal Government to address the recurring fuel scarcity in the country.

The co-facilitator of the group, Mr. Livingstone Wechie, said another protest would be organised to express the dissatisfaction of Nigerians over the non-availability of electricity amid increased tariff and incessant/fraudulent bank charges on poor Nigerians.

Wechie, in a statement on Friday, said that the protests would serve as a platform to express the hardship being faced by Nigerians.

He expressed sadness over what he described as lack of economic policy direction by the Government.

Wechie said, “We believe the government has exhibited gross ineptitude and incapacity in its dealings. Thus, it has continued to play the blame game on the past Goodluck Jonathan administration as a cover-up to its failures, which is a betrayal of its promises to Nigerians during the electioneering.

"The protests will help to demand a practical economic policy direction from the Federal Government."

Somebody is ready to expose himself for government appointments. The last protest brought Reuben Abati to recognition and the eventual post of GEJ's media spokesperson. I'm still yet to know - apart from that and deaths of young Nigerians - what the last protest achieved.

A protest of this sort to me is necessary to keep this administration on its toes. Fuel scarcity and power blackouts are not witchcraft, in a country like this the problems are created by wicked individuals with personal interests.

I hope things will not get out of hand, hence be a recipe for the much push for the declaration of state of emergency in Rivers. Governor Wike don't sit down and watch some elements disrupt the fragile peace in Rivers. When it starts you will suffer more.

In the past protests like this are best organized by the labour union but these days the leadership of labour appear to have been pocketed by government.

This government in its short span has very deadly human-right record against protests I will not advise anyone involve in any protest not organized by labour union.
