Passengers scheduled for two Arik Air flights from Benin revolted this evening.

Many passengers arrived at the airport expecting to board their flights, 1630 to Abuja and 1700 to Lagos, only to be told that there was no fuel.

Shortly after, they were checked in. About 1800, word spread that two planes on the tarmac had been chattered by staff of Dangote Cement who were returning from a ground breaking ceremony, and this led to a full-scale revolt as passengers had been led to believe that both aircraft were meant to take them.

All Arik staff at the airport have checked out.
