The Association of Nigerian Theatre Art Practitioners {ANTP} is embroiled in yet another leadership crisis as the President of the body, Victor Asaolu has demanded to be re-elected for another 4-year term.
Asaolu recently dragged the members of the association to court for a fresh ruling on his Presidential bid.

On January 30, 2014, he was declared winner of the controversial elections of the ANTP by Justice Bolaji Yusuf of the Federal High Court, Ibadan, Oyo State.
The ruling tentatively laid to rest the about four-year leadership crisis between Asaolu and veteran actor cum film maker, Dele Odule.
However, Asaolu has now demanded that, he start his 4-year tenure afresh after the court declared him winner with 6 months left to the end of his tenure.
This didn’t go down well with some stakeholders in the association, who requested Asaolu to honorably hand over power, as the next election date would be announced.
Asaolu has now gone to court to seek the permission to restart his 4 year tenure and continue to operate as the authentic leader of the association.
In 2014, leading members of the Association of Nigeria Theatre Arts Practitioners, ANTP, pulled out to form parallel associations.
Some of the associations formed by former ANTP members are; Theatre Arts and Movie Practitioners Association of Nigeria (TAMPAN) headed by two former presidents of ANTP, Adebayo ‘Oga Bello’ Salami and Prince Jide Kosoko and also Dele Odule.
Another one, The Movie Golden movie Ambassadors of Nigeria (TGMAN) headed by Saidi Balogun, Dele Fagboyo, Kunle Afod, Foluke Daramola-Salako, Kemi Afolabi, Bayo Bankole aka Boy Alinco.
In 2014 when he took an oath of office as president of ANTP, Barrister Abdul-Malik Abdul-Majeed was present at the Kwara State Arts & Culture Centre (Main Hall), Ilorin with other members of the executives.
The executives are Mustapha Eletu as National Deputy President, Yisa Alabi Olorunoje as National Vice President (North), Najeem Adio Tijani as National General Secretary, Isaac Ajidaun as Assistant National general Secretary, Abiola Ayeni Adejumo as National Treasurer, Tawab Fatola as National Financial Secretary, Atinuke D. Akindele as National Publicity Secretary, Bakare Shittu as National Welfare Secretary 1 (Male), Yinka Adeleke as National Welfare Secretary 2 (Female),
Elijah Afolayan as National Chief Whip 1 (Male), Esther Akinola Omidiran as National Chief Whip 2 (Female), Ibrahim M. Yahaya as National Auditor and Abiodun Rufai (Odua) as National ex-officio 1.
