I feel thoroughly disappointed by Governor Fayose's bravado of going to China to embarrass President Muhammadu Buhari by presenting a letter to Chinese leaders, requesting them not to grant the $2 billion loan to Nigeria. President Buhari is not the leader of the APC, but the leader of Nigeria. He was not in China to secure a loan for his party; he was there to sign agreements for the larger interest of Nigeria and Nigerians. Rather than embarrassing Buhari, Fayose was only embarrassing Nigeria in the eyes of the wider world. He only makes a caricature of himself as an undisciplined and uncouth politician. He also portrays the sorry character of our opposition politics which has been taken to a new low by the asininity of his unbecoming behaviour. His puerile conduct is an insult to decency and our international image. Is that the kind of opposition politics the PDP is ready to tolerate, allowing a boor to be its unofficial spokesman? Is Fayose not insulting the dignity of his office, or abusing his immunity by following President Buhari abroad to embarrass him and Nigeria? What did Fayose achieve by that? Where is the dignity in making an international exhibition of foolishness, making your country a laughing stock? Despite intense political rivalries, l can't imagine a Republican politician following President Obama during a foreign official visit to tell his host country not to sign any agreement with him. Fayose is an embarrassment to Nigeria and his party, and if you call this opposition politics, then it may backfire on the PDP. The bigger embarrassment is that a man who calls himself a Governor is behind this absurdity. 1 Like |
