2016 could prove to be a tumultuous year for Arsenal. From a few short weeks ago when the players and manager Arsene Wenger refused to rule out the possibility of the title, they are now in a situation in which the top four finish that has so been their forte in recent years is in no way secure.
Whether falling out of the Champions League places would have any effect on the future of Wenger is hugely debatable. Chances are a board that has stuck with him through thick, and slightly less thick, will do just the same when it approaches thin.
Even with belief in the manager fading rapidly after just five wins from 14 league games since the turn of year, Wenger is almost certainly going to be the man in charge next season. He'll obviously have a lot of work to do, which is why finishing in the top four is so important.
Fans might ask why a tournament in which Arsenal have shown little sign of being able to win is so crucial. They can point to a record of six successive eliminations at the Round of 16 stage and, rightly enough, suggest that it's not a competition that gets the juices flowing.

With a record low attendance in sight at emirate stadium today against Westbrom, am praying so hard for arsenal to lose again and of course miss out on the champions league spot. Prayer no 2. Spurs should win the league so we can hear our neighbours celebrate with all due respect to Leicester and Claudio Ranieri who have done excellently well this season. Why are we going there(CL) if we can't win it? having bow out in 6 consecutive season at round 16 we don't deserve to be there. Arsene Wenger is actually the problem, if you don't have a striker who can score 20-30 goals a season you will never win the league. With Striker like Giroud, come next season this team is still doom to fail.
