There was once a man

Who lived entirely on his own

He never had a friend

Neither did he have a foe

He never laughed at town parties

Mostly because he was never present

When Christmas came, he never got a present

This man cried not at funerals either

He carefully avoided those, he feared being bitter

This man was neither rich nor poor

Just comfortable with the boss he worked for

Didn't dwell in the past, unconcerned about the future

Quietness and obscurity were his prominent features

He didn't search for love....consequently never found a wife

On a fateful night, death came and took his life

News of his demise spread far and wide

But no one knew him or even believed

Since he never really lived

He never really died.
