86. Population of Venice decreased from over 120,000 to 60,000 in the last 50 years.
Some experts say that Venice could be a ghost town by 2030. It would be populated only by tourists that would come at the morning and leave in the evening, something like people do in a theme park.

87. Venice is sinking at the rate of 1-2 millimeters a year.

88. Venice was not built directly on the surface of the islands, buildings are supported by wooden platforms.

89. Venice is divided into six districts.

90. There are 118 islands, 416 bridges, 177 canals and 127 squares in Venice.3.

91. The Venice lagoon is 15 meters deep at its deepest point.

92. The progressive sinking of the town also makes people move out.

93. Venice has one of the narrowest streets in the world. Calletta, or Ramo Varisco street, is only 53 cm wide. Canals were the main communication routes, that’s why main entrances in old buildings were always on the canal side. They didn’t worry much about space between buildings on land, that’s why Venetian streets are often narrow, sometimes weird and without logic.

94. Every year 18 million tourists visit Venice. That’s, on average, around 50 thousand people per day. The peak time is during the carnival with more than three million visitors.

- Whenever the American presidential jet, known by its call-sign "Airforce One" is about to land or take off from a civilian airport, the airspace around that airport is closed for around 20 minutes.

This means that other aircraft cannot take off or land at that airport during that 20-minute period.

We were put in holding pattern for over thirty minutes once because of presidential movement. The interesting thing is that they changed the call sign on the transponder.

In order to overcome water scarcity, substantial investments have been undertaken in seawater desalination, water distribution, sewerage and waste water treatment. Today about 50% of drinking water comes from desalination, 40% from the mining of non-renewable groundwater and only 10% from surface water in the mountainous South-West of the country. The capital Riyadh, located in the heart of the country, is supplied with desalinated water pumped from the Persian Gulf over a distance of 467 km. Water is provided almost for free to residential users.

Zealand, Brazil, America and some others are still foreigner friendly. In Russia, if you aren't a Russian, you WILL not be employed into a lucrative job, unless u count snow packing. Unless u plan to work for the embassy, but they have petty jobs for graduates... eg driving, cooking. Wishing you the best, are you for work or study?

101. Longest motorable road in the world.

Pan American Highway is a network of roads measuring about 30,000 kilometres (19,000 mi) in total length. Except for a rainforest break of approximately 100 km (60 mi), called the Darién Gap. The road links almost all of the mainland countries of the Americas in a connected highway system. According to Guinness World Records, the Pan-American Highway is the world's longest "motorable road".
