MANAGING YOUR TIME

Time they say waits for no body, but have we really paused to grasp the import of that saying. Do you know that until you turn; it will not be your turn, until you take a step to get up; you will continue to be stepped upon, and until you come out from your cocoon; your conditions will not bloom. The lesson here is that now is the time to arise, the right time to act and fulfill your purpose. The holy writ has a warning for us not to wait for perfect conditions as we will never get anything done if we don’t do something, so we must never lounge around.
Literally, managing time is an oxymoron as you can’t see anyone who was able to manage time and got 65 seconds out of a minute or 25 hours in a day. Time management is actually managing ones action; what are you going to do today, this week or this year? It is priority management; are you doing tasks that are important and urgent? The ticking of the clock tells us that what you have to do must be done quickly; so we must always be time conscious. People most times complain about lack of time but the problem is not lack of time but lack of purpose, priority and plan. I define time management as taking responsibility to identify your purpose, utilize your ability, maximize your potentials, execute effectively your plan, achieve your results and efficient put to use of all the resources allotted to you within a given time frame of minutes, hours, days, months or years as the case may be.
Wise utilization of time will entail the following three key areas:

1_.Knowing what to do: This gives you direction and focus in life. Abuse of time is the end product of ones actions when ones purpose of what to achieve is oblivious and this affects the individual negatively. My dear, have a clear goal of what to do. Being active and productive are not the same. You were not created to do everything but something that aligns with your values, in line with your interest, utilizes your skills and supports your ambition. This gives way to your passion which is a pointer to your purpose; and when your purpose is achieved, time is not abused. You were made for a reason, so discover why you were created.

2. Knowing how to get things done: This gives you wisdom and sharpens your skills in creatively and productively fulfilling a task. When you don’t know how to do what to do, you wear out yourself easily, spending more strength and time in what will require less effort and time. Wisdom is vital for freedom of time. So my dear, ensure you improve on what to do by getting the resources needed to carry out the task in lesser time and better output. Go for vital knowledge and ensure you apply them in all given tasks.

3. Knowing when to start and finish: This gives concentration, enthusiasm and discipline. Lack of a good time framework will make you succumb to distractions. Planning on what to do is not enough, you must plan when to complete the task. When you are disciplined enough to concentrate on achieving your set goals and working enthusiastically; you end up finishing on time. Knowing when to start a task and acting ardently will help you manage procrastination which is time worst enemy. Therefore you must intentionally avoid delay by starting off at the set time to increase efficiency and time for other tasks. Know that when you don’t start at the right time, you will finish at the wrong time and this will affect other tasks to be done as more time is consumed.
In managing your time, you must know that we are always timed; we can’t change time and we can’t increase the quantity of time. So we must accept time and control it by doing what we are supposed to do since we can’t do everything. Don’t be idle, do your best to avoid procrastination. By doing the right things, we increase the quality of our time and this affects our life positively. Time management is actually life management. Take responsibility to act now and know that time is not found but consciously created for the things we want to do. Yesterday is history, story and impotent, today is current, present and important. Your future starts today, so you must wisely manage your time today; for today is not 24 hours but your future wrapped in 24 hours. Act now for tomorrow will soon become today, and today will become yesterday. So defeat procrastination by managing your time well for your future starts today and even now. It will be great seeing you at the top most top.
