A Kogite's Thought About His APC Governor And Governance. by nortcentrallord(m): 2:06pm On Apr 24, 2016
The herald of young Adoza Yahaya Bello as the new governor of the State was a news many savoured more than a delicious meal. Amidst all odds many parts of the State were full of joy to see a new, young captain employed to steer the ship of the State. Bello made a whole lot of promises upon assuming office. The people believed him hook, line and sinker. Nobody wanted to doubt him at all. To the people, Bello was going to be more efficient than the captain of the Titanic ship that hit an iceberg on the high sea and wasted many lives and also the beautiful edifice that the ship was. So far; so good Bello has been behaving like a "kindergarten captain."
As I write this post we have seventeen (17) people from Kogi State who are in China to lure investors into Kogi State. Seventeen is a number too many to send to China to woo investors into Kogi State. Personally I believe if Bello knows his onions well and also have in his cabinet people who are capable three (3) people would have been enough for this trip. Why waste the State's resources on a trip that one is not even sure of its success many months ahead? I also heard a particular man in the entourage that went to China cannot read or write. Did he follow them to China to learn the Chinese language or to see the tomb of Bruce Lee the late Chinese actor? The most annoying thing is that the seventeen man team will also be meeting with Bello in Dubai from where the Muslim faithfuls among them will all be heading to Mecca to observe the Hajj which is one of the pillar of Islam. I laughed uncontrollably when I heard this. Bello has told the whole world that he will follow the footsteps of Buhari his mentor and maybe that was why he quickly sent people to China to woo investors to Kogi State as Buhari also did some few weeks back. Bello, the kindergarten, slate carrying pupil has failed to follow Buhari's footsteps in cancelling all government's sponsored trip to any of the holy lands.
Kogi State is highly to be pitied among the thirty six (36) States Nigeria as a country is parading on its map as a sovereign nation. She is a state that cannot pay her workers one hundred per cent salary. The roads are in bad shape. Water is scarce except the dirty River Niger and Benue that is readily available. Schools are permanently on break with no resumption date. The health sector is now a shadow of itself. Ghost workers abound in every corner of civil service in the State. With all these and many more problems begging for attention, Bello had the guts to donate seventy million naira as a way of launching Aisha Buhari's book. The donation was done Nicodemously. It is so funny that Bello has turned himself into a ghost donor at a time he is fighting ghost workers in the state. That he knew Aisha Buhari all the way from Ahmadu Bello University (ABU), Zaria is not enough a reason for him to splash the state's money on a woman that is the President's wife and same time having a wonderful business that she is taking enough money from. What type of book could that be? Did Aisha Buhari discovered any new thing in Science of cosmology , Medicine, Law, Journalism, Politics or what? Does Bello know how many of our dilapidated schools can be repaired with that money he donated at the book launch? Or is he trying to show off with Kogi State's money before the first family since we heard he is warming up like those Nigerian contingents preparing for the Rio Olympics in Brazil to marry one of the President's daughters as wife number four. Are we not heading for doom if we allow all these acts of indecency to continue to rub on us and our dear state?
Bello thinks we are in the same kindergarten class as he is. I want to tell him we are not. That people are hailing him as a young governor who is running four forty against ghost workers in the state is not enough an achievement for us to keep quiet or be blind to address his many lapses. Bello should please tell us where he has been housing his cabinet members since inauguration. All of them have been staying at Reverton Hotel in Lokoja where gossip, lies and flirting with women of easy virtue has taken over most of them. An executive suite at the hotel cost almost fifty thousand naira (N50,000.00) per night. Now calculate the money the state has been spending on the Bello's led crew right from 27th January, 2016 that the inauguration took place till date. Is this not a kindergarten way of handling the state affairs? Why spend huge money in accommodating a cabinet that you have not been able to pay their salaries right from day one they assumed office? Only a kindergarten pupil will do this and will still run home jubilantly to his or her parents with a slate full of zero marks. We are a different parents and won't take failure for success. Bello should go back and wipe his slate and attend classes very well and pass exams and we will also sing his praises once he is back on track doing the right thing.
Kogi State has suffered enough in the hands of those at the helms of affairs. It is high time we called a spade a spade. We are tired of sitting and folding our arms in total defeat. We refuse to be defeated by a microscopic few less brainy people whose ascendancy to power is by chance yet they see it as a way of further milking the state dry. May God allow every evil or good thing we do in leadership to stand for or against us.
