IN a new twist that could lead to reprisal attacks by Enugu State indigenes, over the murder of their people, there are confirmed reports that the tragedy which took place in Enugu, would have been averted, had the President had put National Interest above self. Mezie Times have been reliably informed that, the Governor of Enugu State, had before the ugly incident, placed a call to the president, which was put on hold for over an hour 15 minutes. Sources say, this call was made in the presence of 13 men and 4 women, where the president’s aide told the Governor that the president will get back to him. Buhari through his aide, after 4hours of waiting, told Enugu State Governor that the president will do something about it. Eye witnesses when this calls were placed to the President said, Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi on hearing that the police have not arrived at Uzouwani called GOC 82 division for help. He was referred to the presidency again, where his call was again, put on hold, for nearly 2 hours. Desperate to speak with the President, which ended in futility, news filtered in that the attack he was planning to prevent has actually taken place. We gathered that, within an hour, the commissioner of police and GOC who referred the Governor to the President, mobilized their men to stop retaliation. Residents of Enugu have queried why the police commissioner and GOC need presidency order before they can protect the innocent citizens and also why police and military sent their men to Uzouwani after the attack to prevent retaliation. A resident who confided in us, also demanded to know why a sitting Governor cannot use the support of police and military to protect his people. Since the Enugu massacre, Nigerians have expressed their anger, and has charged the Governor, to make use of the media, which was used by Orji Uzor Kalu, in his time as Governor of Abia State, to avert this type of unnecessary deaths in Okigwe during his tenure. President Buhari has been accused by some section of Nigerians, to be a jihadist who has a hidden agenda. Speaking, a source said, “Don't wait for police and military, use the media which is free. Put the call before public media, have it taped and watched and monitored all over the world and Uzouwani citizens would have rushed back home in their millions to protect their relatives. The world will see how a tyrant value lives of his people.” There are calls, demanding probe/investigation on this massacre and also for the GOC and commissioner to be queried on their negligence in protecting the lives of the citizenry. Oriaku Enwe Iro Apologies to Governor of Enugu state. There was a call made by Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi to the president, he was put on hold for over an hour 15 minutes. This call was made in the presence of 13 men and 4 women, the president aid told the Governor that the president will get back to him. The president through his aid after 4 hrs told Enugu state governor that the president will do something about it. My relative was among the people who witness this call. Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi on hearing that the police have not arrived at Uzouwani called GOC 82 division for help. He was refereed to the presidency again. This time around, he was put on hold for nearly 2 hrs again, while waiting to speak to the president. News came in that the attack he was planning to prevent has actually taken place. Within an hour, the commissioner and GOC who refereed the Governor to the president has mobilised their men to stop retaliation. The same way Lagos and Agatu was attacked and retaliation prevented. I want to use this medium to apologise to the Governor of Enugu state, but I would like him to demand probe/investigation on this massacre. I will know he has learnt his lessons, if not he is still a cretin we will have for only four years. We need to know why police commissioner and GOC need presidency order before they can protect the innocent citizens?. We need to know - why police and military sent their men to Uzouwani after the attack to prevent retaliation?. All is not ok in this country.Cow's life is more important than human life.If you are not a fulani then you are reduced to 2nd class citizens thus need no protections from the security agents. If you take up arms to protect yourself,you will be arrested and charge for illegal possession of fire arms. Governors govern and have more Preference for the security, safety and success of their people than the President. So let every state Assembly pass a Bill with a required majority to grant FULL AUTONOMY to its Governor. Pass the Acts to NASS to support a similar action from them. |

It is so amazing how a Governor in Nigeria has no powers to order the commissioner of police in his state to do the needful except he calls on the president who now decides weather to instruct the IGP to direct the states CP to go and carryout their constitutionally mandated duty of protecting both lives and properties or not? Why on earth are governors called the chief security officer of their states when they actually are not? A mayor that is more like a local government chairman here in the State of Maryland can fire and appoint a CP while a whole governor of a state in Nigeria cannot even summon the C.P in the state he governs talk-less of mandating him to provide security in times of crises?
