Ibadan—Following a two-day protest by students of the University of Ibadan, the management of the institution has shut it  indefinitely.

The students  expressed their displeasure over the  suspension of a union leader by the students’ disciplinary committee and non-availability of some amenities needed on the campus.

In addition to their suspended leader, the students complained about lack of power and water which they said had made learning difficult for them. The protesting students disrupted lectures in lecture rooms when they used canes to chase their colleagues away.

Also, all entrances to the institution were locked by the angry students. The protest denied both staff and other visitors to the institution access into the premises.
