My reaction to the Harry Redknapp becoming the new Super Eagles' head coach is simple...

The NFF is about to take Nigerian football on a journey without destination (a.k.a. One chance)

Reason?

Ordinarily, Harry Redknapp might be a good coach (for Club & country) but I strongly believe that he has - and will continue to have - a few damaging distractions as a Super Eagles head coach.

What are (or will be) the distractions?

1. Right now, he is an advisor to Derby County Football Club, currently fifth in the English Championship.
2. He is about to be confirmed as a consultant to the Australian club, Central Coast Mariners, a club based in New South Wales, Australia. Mariners were A-League winners in 2008 and 2012.

Can a woman be in love with two men - at the same time - in equal measures? Derby County FC, Central Coast Mariners FC, Nigeria's Super Eagles! Food for thought.

3. Will he be based in Nigeria or abroad (a la Sunday Oliseh)?
4. The ex-Portsmouth and Tottenham boss recently had a two-game spell (yes, just 2 games) in charge of Jordan, overseeing an 8-0 win over Bangladesh and a 5-1 loss to Australia in Sydney. Just 2 games and he was off! Is this a sign of a football management prostitute?
5. With NFF's antecedent, Harry will have a bus-load of excuses to dump the Super Eagles... when the chips are down! The football world will blame Nigeria... as usual cry

With these points in mind, I say "no" to Harry Redknapp becoming the new Super Eagles' head coach.

What's your take on this?

Yes, in February 2009, while still managing Russia, Hiddink was appointed interim manager of Chelsea FC. True he won the FA Cup, but not as the substantive manager though. Interim managers appear to generally turn the tide... at Chelsea? wink
