curiosity got me on this. i used to to remember my elder bro who loves chewing drugs (yuck),
so to all doctors out there the question is quite simple

does chewing of drugs works faster than swallowing?

which is preferable?

I am a pharmacist and this is wat I have 2 say.
I will try 2 Save u all d pharmacological explanation but know that there are some tablets wen chewed losses their efficacy probably because they are designed to get to d intestine before absorption but some other tablets are designed to be chewed for faster absorption. So the answer to ur question depends on d drug.

Do not chew tablets that say "enteric coated" on the package.
They're are designed only to be absorbed by the small intestine. The active ingredient will be destroyed by stomach acid if you do.

@cherix, there are many pleasantly flavoured drugs but most of them are for children, sorry because adults don't need to be convinced abt wat is there health, I tink.
@igramus, yes there are so drugs dat are better taken on empty stomach for several reasons, one notably to maximize its absorption.
