A statement issued by the Acting Director of Army Public Relations, Colonel S.K. Usman, disclosed that some terrorists hiding in the villages were armed with dangerous weapons and had been terrorizing the communities, but three of them were killed, while nine, who tried to hide in foxholes and dugouts, were identified and captured alive during the military operation.

The statement added that the operation was in compliance with the military high command’s directive, which is to ensure that all villages and towns are cleared of remnants of Boko Haram terrorists.

The troops recovered several weapons from the villages, including nine Dane guns, three machetes, and one bow with arrows. Other items recovered include six motorcycles, one tricycle, four Tiger generators, and one solar panel.

The troops also recovered 300 herds of cattle rustled by the terrorists from Fulani herdsmen and handed them over to their rightful owners.

“It is gratifying to state that we have not sustained any casualties to own troops and equipment while troops’ morale remains very high. Also, 400 people held hostage by the terrorists were reportedly rescued and set free," the spokesman stated.
