We have a beautiful Caucasian, it is a year and 5 months old. It is indeed a pet to have; very active, although stubborn.

The problem is this; she is restless whenever you go out with it. She hates coming close to anyone, she becomes unnecessarily agitated/afraid. The reaction becomes worse when you get to a noisy area, she literally starts running.

The question is what can I do to boost its confidence level because I believe it is the main reason for this behavior.

Start by walking ur dog at nights, when the street is dead. Give him sometime to get used to walking without distractions. That way, he has his confidence.

You can then proceed to walking him during the day. Then, he'll see all those distractions as non-existent.

Try this, it works....it's the only logical remedy

So it has nothing to do with confidence level??

You didn't work her and socialize her on time I guess because if u had by her age she should be free with her environment and people too. Work her often and always stop and play with her any time she shows the signs of fear and unrest, help her by frequent walk and observe the difference in her attitude thanks.

Of course it has everything to do with confidence, fear and insecurity.

Firstly, because the dog is not used to walking. Socialisation is key remember?

Secondly, the dog feels insecure with all those distractions while walking. Whatever happened to the dog-master bond between u guys, or probably u haven't built the bond.

To correct all these, start by walking ur street every night. Build the master-leash-dog bond. This will boost his confidence and kill fear.

So whenever u start walking during the day, since he's already learnt to trust u for security, his confidence is restored.

Yea its true;am a still a student and I get to be with the dog only when I come home. My parents are business men who go out in the morning to come back at night, so they don't have time for the dog.

Considering the situation above what do you think I should do?

This story reminds me of a puppy my uncle once had when we were still growing. The dog only played and responded to him yet whenever he let it loose to play with us it always found a vehicle to hide itself under.
We were all of the age range 5 - 10 then and thought it a natural instinct of dogs however this dumb animal kept repeating the pattern; he'd let it loose and it'd run straight to a vehicle where it'd hide itself in a position none of our little arms could reach. It'd then stay under the car for hours till my uncle called it back at the end of the day. We worried over it for a week then eventually lost interest. No resolution came out of the situation.

I'm surprised to discover it was only a socialization issue, I always thought it was something deeper.
