Mr Sadiq Khan is the city's first Muslim mayor, after beating Tory Zac Goldsmith by 1,310,143 votes to 994,614. Mr Sadiq Khan's victory gave him the largest personal mandate of any politician in UK history, The British Labour party's Sadiq Khan has been sworn in as London's new mayor, this ends eight years of Conservative control of City Hall. Speaking at the ceremony at Southwark Cathedral on Saturday, Khan called the city the "greatest in the world", adding he was "proud" and "deeply humbled" by his win.
