The problem of maize scarcity struck Nigeria last year/early this year and maize was imported into the country to meet the demands.

According to hear say "na only Obasanjo get the license to import maize". Imagine how much baba go make on top that.

This brought so many questions up. I asked is Nigeria not producing enough? Or is the problem just inadequate storage facilities. Why maize go scare na? This crop grows within 3 to 4 months. You can grow maize all year round with irrigation. Or do we have just few maize farmers? Meaning there is a huge opportunity for maize farmers.

Here is a company in Uganda http://www.agroways.ug
They buy maize from farmers. Add value to the maize (clean, grade etc) and sell.

I may be wrong we don't have may of such in Nigeria. Y can't individuals set up warehouses and store crops for farmers at a fee? We often blame the government.

Please what is the way out?
