IGBO ORA,is a town in Oyo state,south western Nigeria,situated 80kilometre north of lagos.In,2001 the population of the town was 60,000 people.The unusual large number of twins birth in the town has earned it the nickname TWINS CAPITAL OF THE WORLD.In igboora,research has it that the multiple birth could be related to the eating habit of the women.Though,no direct relation between dietary intake and twins birth has been proved,a research carried out by lagos university teaching hospital suggested that a chemical found in igboora women and the peeling of a widely consumed yam could be responsible.Hardly could you get to a family in igboora without seeing a set of twins.The indigene believe that a kind of okra leaf locally called ILASA is capable of making women to giv birth to twins.The town has become a sort of tourist attraction that BBC named it HOME OF TWINS.
