Barcelona sealed their 24th La Liga title as Luis Suarez took his tally for the season to 59 goals with a hat-trick in a 3-0 win at Granada to hold off Real Madrid’s late-season surge.

Real registered their 12th consecutive La Liga win, 2-0 at Deportivo La Coruna thanks to Cristiano Ronaldo’s double, but finished a point behind their bitter rivals. Readmore http://ssportsng.com/barcelona-win-24th-la-liga-title/

You can’t say you don’t know that the last four games have been huge in the title race in Spain for the top big three because unless you’re shying away from it – Atletico Madrid have become a team that contend for title every season under Diego Simeone just like the other big two we already  know. Barcelona have won it today but not without some pressure coming from their rivals especially Real Madrid thanks to Luis Suarez hat-trick in a comfortable 3-0 win at Granada. Today’s victory makes it 24th league titles, the 6th in the last eight and second in a row for the Catalans. Congratulations to them. But it’s very necessary  that we have to recollect where the race for the victory of today was coming from. What am I saying? Barcelona woke up on the morning of El-clasico, that was 2 April this year with confidence at an all time high. They were unbeaten in 39 games, nine points clear at the top of La liga and bidding to become the first team to successfully defend the Champions League title. But a 2-1 defeat by Real Madrid sparked 15 days of hell for the Catalan club, by the end of which they were out of Europe and only top of La liga by virtue of head-to-head difference. Since then, they have found their heads again – winning four in a row with 21 goals scored and none conceded. Credits to all the players especially the MSN, we all know the importance of each player in that team but this season has been a huge one for Luis Suarez in terms of goals and assists. He’s the only player other than Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo to win the Pichichi [Golden Boot] since 2008-09 season with 40 goals. Speaks a lot about him, and with this, he’s a contender for world best player of the year.

Real Madrid came very late to the La liga title party race, all thanks to their new manager [former reserve coach] who woke them up from their slumber. If someone had told me on 1 April 2016 that the title race would come to the final day, it would have seemed like a weird and fairly boring April Fool’s Day joke because at that stage of the season, Barcelona were nine points clear at the top and 10 points above Real Madrid. Funny enough, their manager Zinedine Zidane had conceded the league was over for them a month before that. Since Real Madrid axed Rafa Benitez and replaced him with Zizou in early January of this year, the club has soared. Some 20 wins and three draws from 25 games have seen them climb up to second place in their domestic league and the Champions League final where they will play Atletico Madrid. Today’s win against Deportivo Lacorona made it 12-game winning run in La liga for the Los Blancos. It was clear that at half time, they had conceded the title to Barcelona, the only thing I can believe is the rationale behind the non-appearance of Cristiano Ronaldo in the second half after scoring 2 first half goals. Perhaps, the manager is trying to keep him fresh for the Champions League final show down against their City rival Atletico Madrid. A wise decision? Yes. Because Luis Suarez didn’t show he was tired of scoring goals today. Something tells me something big will happen to Real Madrid next season with the guidance of Zinedine Zidane who admitted he’s still learning on the job but has outperformed Rafa Benitez who didn’t last a season after much expectation when he was appointed as Real Madrid’s manager. With Zizou in charge next season, the Los Blancos can only get better and better for more titles and we shouldn’t forget that they are still in the final of the biggest club competition in the world. So a chance to get something bigger than Catalan’s La liga title? Barcelona are the Champions for 2015-16 season in Spain but they just have to watch out for Real Madrid come next season.
