The Enugu State Government says it is opposed to the creation of grazing reserves across the country.

“Grazing zones could be created for those who are traditional cattle rearers in their areas. I’m not against that. But, you cannot come here and tell me you want to occupy our land for grazing zones. The land exists in our respective states and as such the rigthtful owners should decide what to do with them.

“Anybody outside this zone willing to rear cattle here will need to approach the state to buy the land and we offer what is available with rules. There is no free land for grazing zones. We need to take this firm position. It won’t happen.”

Ebiseni said the State government had already given the Fulani herdsmen a one week ultimatum to evacuate their cattle from the main town of Akure.

He declared that any Fulani nomadic herdsman grazing cattle at night would also be considered thieves and handed over to the law enforcement agencies.

"We don't want to see the Fulani herdsmen grazing cattle within the streets of Akure, the State capital,” Mr. Ebiseni said. "Animals are not reared on the road in our own towns. They are allowed in the outskirts of the town.”

ABAKALIKI—GOVERNOR David Umahi of Ebonyi State yesterday explained that there was no cogent reason for Ebonyi people to demand the immediate withdrawal of Fulani herdsmen from communities in the state, considering the harmonious relationship existing between Ebonyi people and the herdsmen.

The governor, who stated this during an enlarged security council meeting at the International Conference Centre, Abakaliki noted that grazing routes would be created in communities to enable the Fulani herdsmen carry out their duties without rancour and disaffection.

Haba! Come on,.Don't do this to your Godsent Buhari. Oyo has 30 times more landmass than the entire SE/SS. Just give your great fulani president some piece so that peace will.

Even if the SE and SS won't give him, we are sure the yorubas who voted him will be generous to give 70% of their land as grazing reserves.

We've given them Ebonyi. Oyo is on a route to development.
Lol Oyo is bigger than SE states put together and I wonder why they aint developing faster cuz there's not much to develop.
Their small land mass is the reason why they're grabbing SS land.

Better he's called to order than allow a foolish mistake. Sambisa alone is supposed to be bigger than Enugu State so they should just collect portion dia and allocate to the cows.

Well, allocating 940m to avoid fulanis menace to escalate to another version of Boko Haram. I think it's OK. But could av come with conditions to cattle owners. Those cow aren't federal government own, so that's dubious.
