AS a new political scenario continued to unfold in Bauchi State, following the removal of the Deputy Governor, Mohammed Garba Gadi, and the subsequent selection and swearing-in of the Speaker of the State House of Assembly, Honourable Babayo Garba Gamawa, as the new deputy governor, another leadership change is rife at the Assembly.


Investigations revealed that a new speaker will emerge in the House on Tuesday when the House is expected to reconvene after the emergency sitting held last Friday for the confirmation of the former speaker as the new deputy governor in what many believed was a political arrangement to usher in a new political scene in the state.


With the new political development, the office of the speaker, which is the number three, in the political hierarchy, had been zoned to the Bauchi Central Senatorial District made up of Ganjuwa, Warji, Ningi, Darazo, Misau and Danbam Local Government areas.


Investigations by the Nigerian Tribune further revealed that two members of the House were top contender, for the position.


The two leading contenders were the former Speaker, Haliru Dauda Jika, representing Ganjuwa West of Ganjuwa Local Government and the majority leader, Hon. Dayyabu Chiroma.
