The federal government announced that it was granting amnesty to the niger delta militants. The said amnesty has begun in this month of August and it will be valid for two months.During this period ,the so called "militants"are expected to report to some designated centres, surrender thier arms and ammunitions and they are rehabilitated and reformed.During these period of rehabilitation and reformation, they are paid 20,000 naira monthly and are fed with 1500 naira daily. It is these last statement that aroused my curiosity,it is either the government is not sincere with the so called"amnesty"or there are some part of the amnesty thatr is shielded from us "bloody civilians".Or how can we rehabilitate and reform a militant that is used to getting millions of naira from kidnapping and bunkering by giving him 20000 monthly and feeding him with 1500 daily? The government should at least be sincere for once with us the governed by letting us know the real terms of the amnesty, and if really that is their proposal,i would use this meium to advise them not to deceive themselves. If they want an end to militancy in the niger delta and other parts of the country, they should adress all the environmental problems of the delta, create jos for the teeming youths of the country and stop the massive corruption going on.what is your take on it?
