A captivating news item from major tabloids on March 4, 2016 was the report on an alleged leaked letter from the office of the Minister for Information, Lai Mohammed purportedly seeking a loan of N13.12millon from the National Broadcasting Commission, one of the agencies under its direct supervisory control, for the purpose of financing an official trip to China.
To some Nigerians, the loan request, taken from its merit, does not deserve unnecessary roar having been explicit on its purpose. However, a careful look at the policy thrust of Buhari's administration in the areas of prudence and accountability when matched with govt grandstanding on implementation of TSA policy should make any patriotic citizen raise dust on the sincerity of major players of the administration.

First, we were made to believe that there has been substantial compliance with the TSA policy by MDAs and also, that almost N3trillion had been mopped up from its implementation. If these were to be taken hook, line and sinker, how come there was an idle fund at the NBC from which a whopping sum of N13.12million was to be paid out in form of loan bearing in mind that at the time the loan request was made, all govt funds should be at the CBN. This, among the following questions must be asked Lai Mohammed and the President;

1. Was the N13.12m loan request a tip of the Icebag on underhand financial activities going on under the Ministry of Information and other govt agencies?

2. How urgent and important was the China trip such that the Minister could not wait until approval of the Budget before embarking on it?

3. Going by the fact that one of the reasons for which the former DG of NBC was relieved of his duties was the alleged partial compliance with the TSA under his watch. on what moral ground would Lai Mohammed speak about the policy and its implementation in Nigeria?

4. Has this govt been deceiving Nigerians on its success story on TSA implementation?

5. Do we have exceptions to the anti corruption drive of Buhari's govt?

6. And most importantly, do we have a set of govt officials who preach one thing but do exactly the opposite?

No matter how long a lie is repeatedly told, it will never change its nomenclature from been called lie.

If such anomaly had been discovered in the last administration, hell would have been let loosed by APC's propaganda machinery.
