It was really a sad moment in Nnewi city located at Anambra state as an armed robber entered into one of the students hostel, robbed students and shot a student who recently finished his senior school certificate examination, and yet escaped.

The incident happened at NNewi High School Nnewi, in Anambra state located along Nnewi-Nnobi road.

According to an eyewitness report, the ugly incident happened yesterday's night, 17th may 2016. In the mid night when the students were fast asleep, one of the senior students who currently finished his SSCE and probably was in verge of traveling home, woke up to read his books.

As he was studying, he heard some knocks through the entrance door and so he went to know who was knocking, as he opened the door, he flashed a torchlight at the man who was estimated to be in his 30's , standing right in front of the deceased.

The stranger however claimed that they were chasing an armed robber around the school vicinity who later on escaped and then he claimed that he was tired and came to the hostel because he was thirsty, the unknown man there and then asked the deceased to help him with a sachet water but the deceased said they only have water stored in their gallons.

The "robber in disguise'" then asked him for some water in a cup, as the deceased student headed to his cupboard to get the water, he realized that he silently was robbing students from the entrance door, the deceased then through an exit door ran to the corper's quarters and alerted the corpers of what was going on.

The corpers thereafter put some frantic calls across to the vigilante group who promised to come around immediately to arrest the armed robber.

Unfortunately, the robber succeeded in robbing the student's dormitory and headed to the coper's quarters where he met the student and a corp member.

It was then the robber shot the student at the waist and also shot the corper at the face, luckily for the corper, the robber missed the target as the bullet brushed the face of the corp member thereby inflicting injury on his face.

Then the vigilante group who were already in the school made their way to the quaters, but the armed robber who knew he had no time took off his clothes, took them in his hands and dashed out of the premises. All attempts and searches of the vigilante group was however fruitless because the armed robber was too fast and wasn't apprehended.

At day break, Nigeria police, army, the state education commission etc. were seen making some investigations in the school about the incident.

It was gathered the the deceased is the only child of his parents.

May the soul of the student rest in peace and may God grant the parents the fortitude to bear the loss, Amen!!!
