WARRI- THE five pipeline surveillance workers seized by the Joint Task Force, JTF, in the Niger Delta, last Friday, in connection with the bombing a Chevron Nigeria Limited, CNL, pipeline at Makaraba community, Gbaramatu clan, Warri South-West Local Government Area, Delta State, have been released.

A security source said that they released them on Wednesday evening.
Released were Samuel Emiko and Alfred Timedi, ( Itsekiri) and Isaac Edinde, Henry Arogboritse and Kelvin Mordi (Ijaw), arrested by soldiers while on surveillance duty for a contractor to Chevron.

Ijaw leader, Chief Godspower Gbenekama, who is among the leaders that raised dust over the arrest confirmed, said, “Yes, I am aware that they released them on Wednesday night, I want to thank you people in the media for crying out for us.”

“The released workers were asked to report next Wednesday,” a security source, who also confirmed their release, told our reporter.
He said: “The 19th Battalion, Nigerian Army, Koko, handed them over to the Delta State Police Command, Asaba, from where they moved them to Bayelsa State and released them on Wednesday.”
To avoid backlash against the company following a 72-hour ultimatum by its seven Gbaramatu-Ijaw host communities, top officials of Chevron Nigeria Limited, CNL, which facilitated their freedom, met with their families, Wednesday, in Warri, and assured them that the company was handling the matter.

as in,only in nigeria can this happen. you arrest people without doing proper investigation and paraded them on national TV as criminals and then you release them for lack of evidence. All this in a bid to please the ego of the presidiot in aso rock.

this will sure go down as the worst government in the history of Nigeria

Why do our security outfits parade suspected criminals? I don't just get it...the person has not been convicted yet, you are not even done with the investigation and you invite AIT and Channels. one day person go just nack betta human right abuse for their head...eye go clear them.

In this dispensation, our security outfits have become soo incompetent and shameful like their C in C. That's how they arrest and frame up innocent Nigerians everyday for crimes they didn't commit. But for the outcry of the community, who knows what would have befallen these young men by now.

Now just close Ur eyes and imagine how many corpses of very very innocent people that have been paraded as Boko Haram by this same Army in the past..The true problem of Nigeria is that blood of the innocent keeps haunting Nigeria and Instead to look from penance we keep adding more innocent blood to those of millions already gone .

u arrested innocent people, paraded them on national TV, even released press that you capture militant and their leader, all this is because u just want to prove to the dullard that you are doing nice job. This is the highest dent to Nigerian image, how will the international media that aired the news earlier view anything from Nigerian Govt again?
Clearly Efcc, Nigerian military and all other law enforcement outfits are now becoming extremely incompetent in their jobs. They should note that president come president go but their integrity remains constant hence should be cherish and guilded like an egg.
