Please help a brother out with this.

If it takes a guy 12 minutes to read 200 words of a book, how long will it take him to read the entire book which is 15,000 words?

Thank you.

whitecloth has answered your question, but I would like to know where you got the question from and if you need any help in learning how to figure out the solution by yourself.

It arose in the course of my work today. I'm not good with figures. I did it the first time and got 75 hours, second time and got 15 hours, so I decided to come here to be sure.

Next time just reason like this...

If it takes 12 minutes to study 200 words of a whole textbook, then by using mathematical reasoning and induction or by applying a basic propositional logic, it will take X minutes to study the entire book which is contained of 15,000 words.

With the hypothesis that have given above, what are we then finding?

We all know that we are finding the unknown which is denoted with the variable "X".

12 mins -----------> 200 words
X mins -----------> 15,000 words

By cross-multiplying, we will derive the following equation.

12 × 15000 = 200X

X = 180,000 / 200

X = 900

X = 900mins//

And by progressive simplification, we all know that 60 minutes is corresponding to an hour

900mins / 60mins

And equals to 15

Therefore, the final answer is 15hrs.
