Nigeria Not Yet Able To Respond To Crisis Timely. by Honesty007(m): 2:22pm On May 21, 2016
I always wonder how this country would survive in the face of an Earthquake or Hurricane!!!!
In fact,it would be so disastrous because an Economy plagued with corruption is like a fence full of holes or a broken keg.
If any crisis that is overwhelming should occur, God forbid! Nigeria is doomed!!
Let us take a look at the likelihood of Major crisis where Government has failed in providing Alternative responses.
1)Infrastructure-i won't point to any Administration at fault. In fact, all have no timely response to building collapses, vandalisation of government properties,or preventing wanton destruction of such Government infrastucture.
From Tertiary institutions to primary, from Working parastatals to roads, bridges, flyovers, other buildings, all we see is the same decay. In terms of crisis, the response is always poor.
We always wait for Things to happen without planning to stop them.Nigeria has poor Maintenance culture.
All we see is once something never works in favour of some people, they now start to destroy what they have benefitted from so that others won't benefit from it.
We dono know which building would collapse tomorrow because iam not sure the Federal Government has the schematic of all building in this country!!!
Never. If they had, they would have been able to prevent disasters, combat crime and forstall unseen circumstances.
2)Transportation:Major cities and states in Nigeria with high population always have no Alternative.Well,we may not be advanced so much like European countries, but we must always create an alternative.
Now that fuel hike has come, many people have dumped their cars at home. There are no bicycle lanes, no lanes for skateroller, no lanes for other special vehicles.Only road. The Government never had it in mind to do all these before the fuel hike.Nigeria only rolls with what comes it's way and the funniest thing is it never rolls back again.Things continue to get worse without no proferred solution in sight.
3)Market-Old goods that where suppose to last are being thrown out and New goods that the people have not yet adapted too are being Imported. We keep throwing out the old and bringing in the new things we havent yet adapted too or cannot afford.
This results in confusion of crisis.Nigerians have a penchant for luxury good we havent yet built a platform for.
You hardly see typewriters, you hardly see other things that are still useful. All have been thrown away when we see New things.when crisis comes, how wouldwe adapt.
The truth is Nigerian's are exploited by what they see as New things and the goverment is also exploiting us by what we don't yet understand all or have mastered.Thank God importation was banned. It would take sometime for us to develope.

4)Security: ole Methods have been used to solve crime and New ones have come, but it doesn't mean we should throw out the old ones away.Nigerian security apparatus are improving by the day,However,we need other alternatives insolving crimes so that Men of the underworld don't find it so easy in cracking our systems.
Human resources must first study old before New systems used in detecting crime.MANY CRISIS WOULD HAVE BEEN AVOIDED.CORRUPTION is in the security systems such that new systems that old people have not mastered in tackling crimes are brought in just to benefit a few people at the expense of old systems. Many have been Marginalized.
