Akure – Four students of the Federal University of Technology, Akure, died in a road accident on the Akure-Ilesha expressway in Ifedore Local Government Area of Ondo State on Saturday.The spokesman of the Police Command in Ondo State, Mr Femi Joseph, confirmed the incident andsaid that 11 others sustained various degrees of injuries.The students were returning from Ibadan after attending a religious programme.Joseph further confirmed that the remains of the students were deposited at the Ondo State Specialist Hospital, Akure, where those injured were hospitalised.No fewer than 15 students were in the Hiace bus when the accident happened.The police spokesman said that preliminary investigation had revealed that the accident involved a Hiace bus carrying the students and a motorcycle.“The accident happened when the bus’ driver lost control while trying to avoid the motorcycle that suddenly appeared on the highway.“The bus somersaulted several times after trying to manoeuvre its way,’’ Joseph said.He said policemen and marshals ofthe Federal Road Safety Commission were at the scene to assist the deceased and those injured.Mr Segun Oladele, President of the FUTA chapter of the Students’ Union Government (SUG), who alsoconfirmed the deaths, said that those injured were responding to treatment.











it's a sad and unfortunate event as Futa students that were travelling to Ibadan for a program were involved in a Fatal Auto accident in which four, 4 of the fifteen, 15 passengers have been declared dead.
They have not left the Futa premises, just a few metres away from school, at Ibule - soro, Ondo state when a drunk motorcycle rider collided with the bus and made the driver loose control of the bus which led to the untimely death of the students.
may God save us from these happenings.
the survivors are reported to be in critical condition now, they need our prayers.

It happened infront of my house just now
Dia r 500l, 300l students in d bus so dy cudnt av bn coming from d farm.. Also dia was no farming tool in d bus
We were told dy were on outreach mission
Saw 3 dead corpse, some were unconscious..not sure abt dia survival sha
And 2 were slighty injured
A drunk okada rider caused it...d driver didnt
Wnt to jam him n he ended up killin himself n odas in d process

FUTASU UPDATE

Still on the ugly incident that involve our students who are travelling to IBADAN after the vigil held @ RCF this morning, we bring to notice that some students have been confirm dead while others are responding to treatment.
