Jonathan will go into exile when those who stole before him have returned. There is a long queue of exile-worthy ex-leaders who are still in the country. He cannot jump the queue. This dailies should stop this hypocritical rabble rousing. Its an insult on the person of the former President. Dont get me wrong, I DO NOT SUPPORT looting, but when it appears that there are looters scattered all over the geography of Nigeria and you think you should only point in one direction it is no more journalism. It is Nons.SEnce.

Buhari wants to add more woes to his current predicament. First, was his 5% interview and the result was the animosity of the SE/SS towards his government. Second was the continued detention of Nnamdi Kanu against court rulings and what we have today are IPOB disturbances and protest. Third, his non-regard to the people of the SS and threats to militarize the region in search for one Tompolo, and now that threat has inspired a more deadly group to embark on nasty devastating bombings of oil facilities in the ND. And we begin to ask the question 'Does the President have advisers at all? Because a good leader does not go around stoking up tensions that has the tendency of bringing down his government.
Barely, days ago rumours flew that the President was behind the tacit support for the passing of a grazing reserve bill in the Senate. That careless move undoubtedly is proving the opposition right that President Buhari is an unrepentant ethno-religious bigot. And tempers are already flaring down south and middle-belt because of the murderous activities of the Fulani herdsmen that the President seeks to protect. The herdmen issue is just one among myriads of problems and we are not even talking about the petrol subsidy removal, nor the high inflation nor the acute sufferings in the land caused by the economic ineptitude of this government, yet someone somewhere is angling for more showdowns.
Let me state clearly here that an arrest on Jonathan would spell doom on our fragile unity. All the daft APC zombies pushing for such arrest should get ready to face the music when the poo hits the fan.
So if he's guilty of the charges levelled against him, he shouldn't be arrested bah? I think with the views of urs, this government is also justified regardless of what we're facing at present then....

I'm sure that MB knows that arresting GEJ at this point in time is not going to be in the interest of this fragile nation. No doubt the guy is not a saint but who is? Which of us are? There is corruption is virtually everywhere in the system. Regardless of whatever whoever thinks, GEJ is seen as a hero by millions including the guys in the Niger Delta creeks. If fighting corruption is what MB want his administration to be defined as, he should do it wisely. Go after the crooked politicians and send strong message to the rest of the nation. There are bunch of career political hacks roaming around and degrading the system. Going after GEJ right not would consume Bihari's energy. Save that energy and go after this small dogs. GEJ is too big of a dog to go after right now.

Let's hope, as it may likely turn out to be, that this is another piece of propaganda from the APC- a party that has effectively ran Nigeria for a year via propaganda. That is a feat, one must admit.

One year in power and the Buhari-led government has fallen abysmally short on all counts as predicted by every rational mind before March 2015. Inflation rate has gone on to double digits; 1.6million jobs lost in 2016 alone and over 1 million lost between May 2015 and Dec 2015; the GDP for the first time in 2015 years is on negative growth rate; prices of essential commodities have either doubled or tripled...

I could go on and on. The government is in dire need of a distraction. So it needs to create and drive the narrative. The release of the Chibok girl(s) last week wasn't sufficient as it was a script riddled with glaring inconsistencies and, at best, it was too pedestrian for all who had a causal read on the news.

Arresting Jonathan would create an excellent diversion. However, if Buhari has any adviser whom he listens to, that would be a very, very, very bad move. As a retired general he should know that starting a new war within a space which has an ongoing war is a terrible, terrible move. While Boko Haram was set up to make the country ungovernable, attacks by militants in the Niger Delta will effectively ground Nigeria, affect oil prices and bring in the capitalists to throw him out. Yes, this will what will happen.

The aim of "arresting GEJ" is simple; create a national distraction; when that distraction, which will generate huge public attention dies away, release in batches "news and revelation" from the EFCC to media houses of how much GEJ "stole"... This will effectively run for another year or two. Then start campaigning for 2019, blaming your inability to deliver on even 5% of your 2015 campaign promises on PDP's "16 year misrule", GEJ's stolen funds, pipeline attacks, a comatose economy based on pipeline attacks, fluctuating oil prices... Etc. The North will easily be sold that, the West will again refuse to align with the South East and South South for a much better candidate... And Buhari-led APC will be sworn in again.

Nigeria will be obviously worse off for it, but I fear the above will happen.
Good analysis,
but d propaganda smokescreen wouldn't last for 3 yrs n certainly will not deliver d presidency to APC by 2019, d SW seems too enlightened to buy sabotage as an excuse enough for non-performance.

In as much as GEJ might have erred. I am of the opinion that he should be forgiven for accepting defeat. From what PMB is doing, most African sit tight Leaders will never give up power till they died to escape the GEJ treatment if he is disgraced by any arrest let alone conviction. For knowing or not knowing all these enamours frauds that went through his nose especially the office of the NSA and CBN and still stepped aside even when he could not had accepted the defeat like most African Leaders at the detriment of innocent blood of Nigerians. He accepted defeat against all odds. It's alleged that in some quarters that even Col Sambo Dansuki the now infamous Dasukigate series advised GEJ to sit tight, and resorted to coup plotting when GEJ refused their "sit tight" advice which if they had succeeded in that attempt PMB and GEJ could had now be dead or under house arrest. So PMB should honourably keep to his promise of letting him be, so that other African Leaders can easily accept defeat when they lose to the opposition.
For all GEJ errors he should be forgiven and spared for this great sacrifice for all Nigerians in accepting defeat.

Yes if he has charges against him why will he not be prosecuted? Why deny him a chance to prove his innocence?

He has been under investigation for a while now, so if he is needed for interrogation then he should honour it or be arrested.

The northerners I know don't deal with the 1% oil, they only do business in the South South which produces over 90% of our oil output with the rest attributable to the SW (Ondo alone produces more than double the entire SE output).

As for the blocs, come and collect now.

for your information... on do does not have oil... that oil in on do belongs to delta state... ibori gave them that land to bargain for second term in office from obj
