3. We got reports from the Nigeria Bureau of Statistics (NBS) that the Nigerian economy saw negative growth in the first quarter of 2016.

4. The report was in line with the prevailing economic pulse of the nation which sadly was steadily built from the advent of this APC govt

5. It is important to clarify how we arrived at this state of affairs, to dispel the seeming confusion about how much Buhari is to be blamed

6. This Buhari led APC govt is gradually leading us into economic #Recession and we shall explain this with all sense of proof and civility

7. APC govt came onboard at a period of economic emergency which required competent handling of the situation but they failed to realise it.

8. The President Buhari led APC govt instead carried on with a programme of inertia, policy trial and error and blame casting. #Recession

9. In place of robust policymaking, the APC govt carried on with cheap populist propaganda and media trial of members of the previous govt.

10. We have seen a frequent ritual of promoting frivolous ‘achievements’ that has continued to praise sing Mr President towards his own doom

11. It took Buhari led govt over six months to appoint ministers even though – as we eventually realised they were people within his reach

12. So the economy remained unattended to for over 7 months. Vital programmes from the previous government were put on hold for the period.

13. A good example is the Ministry of Agriculture where the policies and reforms of the previous govt was placed on hold for over 7 months.

14. For 7 months, civil servants with limited powers could not provide cash backing for vital supplies of seedlings, fertilizers, pesticides

15. Indeed policymaking was suspended up on till this moment, and a culture of hero worship of President Buhari pervaded the land #Recession

17. Issues of governance and robust policymaking were lost in the ensuing milieu and did not appear on the APC government radar. #Recession

18. In fact, it took over 4 months of back and forth to finally get the budget passed after scandalous revelations of padded figures.
