I don't believe any company can have a secret chairman. |

This is not possible, however, if it is true, then Soludo and whoever appointed him as the gov of CBN needs to be probed |

I guess it is harvest time for the media. By the time we are done with the bank stuff mega bucks would have been made by the media houses who will effortlessly lie, twist or even manufacture information just to grab the readers attention which translates to more money in the bank. Interesting times ahead. |

Re: Soludo Was Chairman Of AFC. They Owe N32Bn by Afam(m): 6:05pm On Aug 20, 2009 |
In what capacity did Soludo occupy the position? As CBN governor or as a high "net worth" individual? |
Re: Soludo Was Chairman Of AFC. They Owe N32Bn by Fhemmmy: 6:08pm On Aug 20, 2009 |
I wont blame Soludo for this, i will blame whoever appointed him and whoever that supposed to be monitoring him, cos how can someone that is a chairman of a coy be the gov of a CBN? |
Re: Soludo Was Chairman Of AFC. They Owe N32Bn by JamesG: 6:09pm On Aug 20, 2009 |
hydee0k: They manage the banks and steal money from it, they own the news media they use in convincing the public that they are ligitimate business people. These people are the Nigerian Bernie Madoffs, and should be treated as such. |
Re: Soludo Was Chairman Of AFC. They Owe N32Bn by Tsiya(m): 6:10pm On Aug 20, 2009 |
AFC is Soludo's baby. He establish the company when Nigeria lost the seat to chair ADB. He (or OBJ) concieved the idea, and then they move some Federal Gov't money to AFC. Did you remember the investigation he under went in the early days of Yar'adua? |

Afam: It was in the former. AFC is somewhat like the IFC and it's probably far-fetched to describe it as Soludo's company. |
Re: Soludo Was Chairman Of AFC. They Owe N32Bn by Afam(m): 6:17pm On Aug 20, 2009 |
4 Play: Exactly my point. I believe the post is reserved for the CBN governor from the make up of the list of directors |
Re: Soludo Was Chairman Of AFC. They Owe N32Bn by JamesG: 6:17pm On Aug 20, 2009 |
Afam: I don't think it matters in what capacity he was appointed Chairman - was he getting paid? If he was then he can influence loan disbursement - and if that does not amount to criminal conflict of interest at least, I don't know what does. |
Re: Soludo Was Chairman Of AFC. They Owe N32Bn by Seun(m): 6:18pm On Aug 20, 2009 |
JamesG: So basically: - It's not a secret. - It's not a private company. - There was no robbery, just a big loan. |

This is the sign of a failing state. When you begin to hear bad news on daily basis it shows that the end is coming very fast. What next are we going to hear tomorrow. |

Afam: Good point man. You see Nigeria is such a corrupt country such that those that profess to be working for public good in the end simply work to line their pockets. This applies to our hungry journalists. Who in this country did not hear of the IFC probe and how soludo was cleared? It is with this form of sensational "big news " that our corrupt leaders with the help of journalist manipulate us. Very soon they will tactically soft-pedal on this banking issue and "redirect" us to either Harlliburton, Amnesty, "boko aram in lagos", etc. In the end we exchange our hard-earned money for the fake news . They go home richer, get their cuts from politicians and we remain with our underdevelopment. Abeg make we wise up. The banking system needs cleansing , but it must be done the proper way or else even Sanusi will start fighting credibilty battle for CBN. |

Seun: Bush never did such, he had to give up the chairmanship to other people while in office. you cant be the head of such and be the gov at same time, it is not possible for you not to have conflict of interest |

What is AFC what are there activities was it anybody's private business Was this not the same cooporation that had been investigated some time ago, and all their activities are already public knwoledge? I think all these news and hooplas will end up destroying the financial system of Nigeria. This is just the type of choice of actions you see from the likes of Hugo Chavez, Ahmadinejad. Sanusi created this atmoshere. My hope is it does not consume the very economic system some laboured for years to build. There is nothing wrong with borrowing so long as you are servicing your debts, my sense is if we look at books from banks like Barclays, HSBC, Santandier . . . it will still reveal huge loans. Loans and borrowing is part of the Business process so long as ther are being serviced Sanusi's explanation of what is going on is not convincing either. He talks about questions being raised and how he is trying to study these banks and the system well he is already shaking the very foundation of the economy and I hope he does not destroy them. The Job of the CBN Governor or MD of any organisation is surely not for activists. This guy spent only 3 months as FBN MD and was handed CBN Governor . . . .we should have watched him more closely before giving him anything else to run. |

Some people are wonderful in their defense of criminality; these loans were non performing and the banks were declaring profits and deceiving themselves by going on CNN. All of them "Banker of the Year" people should be arrested and tried in a court of Law following if found guilty should be crucified. |
Re: Soludo Was Chairman Of AFC. They Owe N32Bn by blacksta(m): 8:26am On Aug 21, 2009 |
otokx: Well Said - I guess some people are clouded by sentiments . The list released are for those who have borrowed money without servicing it. The other fact Soludo should not have taken up the position of AFC whilst being the CBN Gov. |
