Chelsea shock as Antonio Conte denies
agreement to take over as manager
ANTONIO CONTE has denied he has an agreement
with Chelsea to take over as manager in the
summer - and admits he could still go elsewhere.

Conte will step down as Italy manager after the
European Championships this summer.
He is expected to take over from Guus Hiddink at
Chelsea, with a three-year £18m deal thought to
be agreed.
But Conte insists he is still open to a move to a
Serie A club.
“Chelsea? It’s not a taboo for me, but I could talk
about Italian teams too,” Conte said today ahead of
Italy's friendly with Spain.
“At the moment my thoughts and my pain are
reserved for a choice [leaving the national team]
that is not superficial and without heartache.
“I’ve taken the choice, and now we’ll see what the
future holds, if there’s something beautiful in Italy
or abroad. These choices are never taken lightly.
“What’s certain is that I won’t be coaching Italy for
the next two years, my intention is to return to a
club.

“After the Euro qualifiers, I was filled with
satisfaction in seeing a group which was doing
what I had asked."
However Juventus chief Giuseppe Marotta has
already warned Conte that he faces a struggle
bringing Juan Cuadrado back to Stamford Bridge.
He said: “The fact Antonio Conte is going to
Chelsea just confirms that we made a good choice
when we took him from Siena. I am proud of this
and for him.
“But as for Cuadrado? I don’t think Conte will
influence our decision. We could keep him here.”

to be made before the end of this month
