To Whom It May Concern

This is to bring to public knowledge the untold hardship which interns currently under the Federal Government GIS are being subjected to. The interns have had to endure in silence for the sixth month running (Jan-June) of no stipends(of N30,000/month).
Most of the interns spend as much as 30% of that amount in a month to transport themselv
es to their place of internship just to avoid being idle.

Initially, the interns were told to wait for the passage of the 2016 budget as the scheme was cash-strapped then and noone was sure if it would be captured, but the budget had since been passed and still, no payment and no form of communication from those handling the scheme under the Ministry of Finance.

'll we keep qwayet?

The interns wish to use this medium to appeal to all those involved with the payment, to please do so in earnest in order to alleviate their suffering and enable them carry out their one-year internship smoothly.

These graduate interns also wish to use this same medium to urge the Hon. Minister of Finance, Mrs Kemi Adeosun to empathise with them as shown by her predecessor and ensure prompt payment of their allowance, as information gathered showed that the bulk rest on her table.

The Federal Government Graduate Internship Scheme(FG-GIS) is a one-year internship programmep introduced by the previous administration and retained by the present administration, where graduates are posted to serve/train in registered firms for a period of one year while the Federal Government (via the Min. of Finance) pay them a monthly stipend of N30,000.

The thing is, action as simple as carrying placards to protest in this country could cost someone their life. They will shoot you. That is the level we have degenerated to.

The interns would like to enjoin all Nairalanders reading this to help push their course more on Twitter using the hashtag #FGPayGISInterns and mention as many media personalities, politicians, Government officials and offices as possible.

Thank you..
