In this HOW TO guide you will learn how to hide files and folders without using a dedicated app.
Hiding files and folders can be easily done on android by installing third-party apps from Google Play Store.

However, using this method means you have your files and folders hidden just as long as the app remains on your device. Upon removal, your files or folders become visible or worse you lose such files or folders.
Keeping certain contents such as photos, videos, documents out of sight of the public is essential. In this HOW-TO Guide, you will learn how to do just that.

Requirements:
1. Android Phone
2. File Manager – ES Explorer – download from Google Play Store

HOW TO:

Hide files
This first trick deals with how to hide files.
1. To achieve this, launch ES Explorer.
2. Locate the file you wish to hide – in this case a photo
3. Tap and hold the photo and select “rename”
Choose any name but be sure to pre-pend the name with a dot (.). With the pre-pended dot (.) the system will hide it from the gallery.


Hide Folders
In this trick we will create an empty file “.nomedia”. This is a blank file which is used to hide media in android phones and tablets. When this blank file is placed in a folder it makes it impossible for the android media scanner to find media files in that folder. The files in the said folder do not appear on the phone gallery or any media player on that phone.


1. Launch your file manager
2. Create a folder and safe all the files you want to hide in that folder
3. Now rename that folder to .nomedia
All files in the folder cannot be seen in the gallery.
To make the them visible again you have to rename the folder and remove the “ .nomedia ”
