In the last quater of 2008 into the first quater of 2009, we saw different countries USA, Japan and the UK to mention a few, roll out stimulus packages in which huge sums of money were injected into the economy. We are seeing something close to that in Nigeria presently as the banks get 100 billion naira. Is this really the cure to the downturn we have been witnessing in the economy or should we just see the downturn as a phase in a cycle (oscillatory) which would correct (even if left unaided) as time goes by?
